Case StudyReady Meals Factory - Meat and Poultry products
Radical were invited to conduct a trial of their unique sanitising products in response to an ongoing concern regarding the persistent presence of Listeria within Company A’s factory environment.
Specific locations where the regular presence of Listeria was identified were chosen for programmed swabbing. It was agreed that trials would be undertaken in the meat chill area and chicken slicing room. The Radical 2600 Mobile Room & Surface Sanitiser was used in conjunction with the Radical 4600 Mobile Advanced OxidationWater System and controlled trials were undertaken over a 5 day period.
As well as targeting Listeria, the trial also assessed the effectiveness of the Radical equipment in eliminating or reducing the level of post hygiene Total Viable Count (TVC) and Entero’s .
Key findings from the trial
Swabs processed by the host company and a UKAS accredited independent Laboratory on the first nights trial showed:
- Listeria present in 50% of the locations swabbed before the first trial but 0% after using the Radical equipment.
- Entero positive swabs were taken from locations pre and post trial and showed 43% positive before the trial and 0% after.
- TVC swabs were also taken and showed 57% ≥ 100 cfu per swab before the trial and 7% after.
These were generally replicated on subsequent nights with a progressive reduction of overall TVC’s being recorded on subsequent uses of the equipment.
